BCF Bamboo Craft artisans at work

Our story

Rooted in bamboo, grown with purpose

BCF Bamboo Craft was born from a simple belief — that beautiful, functional objects should not cost the earth. Every piece we make honours the ancient craft of bamboo weaving while building a greener future.

Why we exist

Our mission

We exist to prove that sustainable living can be stylish. By working directly with skilled artisans in rural India, we keep traditional bamboo craft alive while offering modern homes products that are durable, eco-friendly, and genuinely handmade.

Bamboo forest — the source of our craft

Our journey

How it all began

BCF Bamboo Craft started in 2018 when our founder Kunal Rajput visited a small village in Assam and watched a master weaver transform raw bamboo into a piece of art in under an hour. He was struck by the skill, the speed, and the fact that this craft was slowly disappearing.

Kunal returned home and spent the next year building relationships with artisan families across Assam, Tripura, and West Bengal. The first collection — six baskets and a lamp — sold out in two weeks. Today we work with over 40 artisan families and ship across India and internationally.

Every product still carries the fingerprints of the person who made it. That is not a flaw — it is the whole point.

Planet first

Sustainability at our core

Fastest-growing plant on earth

Bamboo matures in 3–5 years versus 20–50 years for hardwood trees, making it one of the most renewable materials available.

Zero chemical treatment

We use only natural oils and water-based finishes. No synthetic lacquers, no toxic sealants — safe for your home and the soil.

Minimal waste production

Offcuts become smaller products or compost. Our packaging is 100% recycled paper and jute. We target zero landfill waste by 2027.

Fair wages, always

Every artisan earns at least 2× the local minimum wage. We publish our wage data annually because transparency builds trust.

What we stand for

Handmade

No machines, no shortcuts. Every product is shaped, woven, and finished by hand.

Transparent

We share our supply chain, our pricing, and our impact — openly and honestly.

Durable

Bamboo is stronger than steel by weight. Our products are built to last decades.

Community-first

Artisan families are partners, not vendors. Their wellbeing drives every decision.
